Spiritual Seeking and Finding
Spirituality is the way we seek deeper life, seek great experiences of life and seek meaning individually. Religion is the way people do this together. Unitarian Universalism is a religion; we seek greater life in community.
Doing this together doesn't mean there is only one path. There might be as many spiritual paths as there are people. Some spiritual practices are best done alone like putting aside time for silence in the morning. In addition to our communal worship on Sunday mornings, these things are also available:
Small Group Ministry
For those who work best in groups, there is a group on Monday evenings and another on Tuesday mornings.
Yoga for Wellness
Yoga classes at the First Unitarian Society of Westchester are gentle and extra gentle. These classes are appropriate for those looking for a gentle practice, for seniors, for those suffering from an array of medical conditions including arthritis, scoliosis or stenosis, or for those recovering from injury. There is a deep respect for the needs and abilities of each student. Classes explore the connection between breath and movement as a means to develop strength and flexibility in a safe environment and in a meaningful way. Props such as chairs, bolsters and blocks are used to assist and modify postures. Meditation is practiced to relax the mind. Some restorative yoga classes are offered.
Schedule: Schedule has changed due to Covid-19 concerns. Check with Laurie directly for information.
Fees: $15 for one class per week; $12 for two classes per week; $20 for a drop in class
Taught by Laurie Mirra, RYT. Laurie has been teaching yoga for twenty years in the tradition of SRi T. Krishnamacharya and Viniyoga, a gentle, therapeutic approach that emphasizes the individual needs of each student in a supportive environment.

Choir
Our choir is open to everyone who wants to sing. Show up on a Sunday morning at 9:45 for rehearsal and you're in. (NOTE: Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the FUSW choir is temporarily on hold.)
Meditation Classes
Sitting on a chair, breathing in... breathing out... Staying in the present moment. When thoughts arise, let them go, coming back to the present moment, breathing in... breathing out... Feel it in your body; simple, but not easy. Saturday mornings at 11:00, once a month. For additional information contact June Sidman.
