The First Unitarian Society, like every UU congregation, is entirely self supporting. In our faith, the institutional church is small while the individual churches are each empowered to make our own decisions and create our congregations in whatever way we choose. For instance, the UUA credentials our ministers, but congregations call and ordain them.
Along with all that freedom comes the responsibility of funding ourselves. To do that, we ask members to donate annually to our operating budget.
