Getting Started in the FUSW Online Community

How do I become a member of the FUSW Online Community?

  1. Click “Create an Account” link from the blue Member Login box on the left side of the home page.
  2. At the “Register New User” screen, enter your full name, username, email address and password.  You will also need to check the Terms of Agreement box and enter the two words.
  3. Enter your basic information, contact information, and education information.  Each response has a privacy option  - click on the “lock” image and choose the privacy option.  Only fields marked with an asterisk (Address, City, State, and Zip) are required.  All other responses, including gender are optional.   You can also complete the profile at another time.
  4. At the optional “Change Avatar” screen, you can upload a photo of yourself, or another image that users will see.
  5. You have now completed the registration process, but you are not done yet!
  6. You will receive an email acknowledging that you have registered.
  7. You will receive a second email requesting that you verify your email address in order to activate the account. Click on the link to activate the account.  (Note, if the link does not work from your email software, you can copy and paste the link into your browser.)  You will be brought to the home page with a message that your email has been verified.
  8. The FUSW Website Administrator will check to see if you are eligible for membership, and if so, will approve your request.  An email notification will be sent to you. (Note, you will not see the email immediately, as the process is handled manually.  Be patient and kind to your webmaster, who is a volunteer!)
  9. Your account is now activated and you can log into the Member’s Area of the FUSW website.  From there you can access the website pages along with the FUSW Online Community features.

Do I need to be a member of FUSW to join the Online Community?

You do not need to be a member of FUSW to become a member of the on-line community, but we do require that you have attended services for a number of weeks before the website administrator will approve your registration.

How do I find other members online and invite them to be friends?

  1. Log in to the Member’s Area.
  2. Click on the little home icon to the left of the “Profile” tab.
  3. On the right side of the screen, you will see photos of Members.  Click on the “View All Members” link underneath the cluster of photos.
  4. For each person you would like to be a friend, click on “Add as Friend”.  Then enter a message if you like, and click on the “Add Friend” button.  The person you have invited to be a friend will have to confirm that you are friends.

(Note – if you are approving a friend, you will have to be logged in order to do so, and then you can either click on the link in the email, or go to “Pending Approvals” and approve from there.)

What else can I do in the FUSW Online Community?

You can write status comments (as you would in other social networking sites), you can upload photos, videos, and documents.  You can create public or private groups where you can create discussions.

The comment section is restricted to members only.
